| ‘CLOISONNE KACHOGAKU These cloisonne plaques were based on rough sketched by Seitei Watanebe (1851-1918). They were created by Sosuke Namikawa (1874-1910), a cloisonne artist from the beginning to the middle of the Meiji Period (1868-1912), during which Western culture was flourished in Japan. The 30 pieces of framed cloisonne Kachogaku are on display in the States Guest House, the Akasaka Palace. These kachogaku are rare works by Inaba Shippo in Kyoto, Japan. Craftsman at Inaba Shippo faithfully followed the cloisonne and wireless technique, developed by the original artist, Sosuke Namikawa, to produce these high quality reproductions of the original work. |
